Bubbles Below is a locally owned and operated business and is Tourism Cook Islands Accredited. Your instructor, Onu Hewitt, is a NZQA accredited SSI diving instructor, and is an experienced diver who will ensure you have an unforgettable diving experience! He knows all the best diving spots and you will see the beautiful natural and undamaged parts of the Cook Islands waters.
The diving day starts between 8.00 and 8.30 AM (or 1.00 and 1.30 PM) when you are picked up at your accommodation. After arriving at the dive center you will have your equipment sorted and set up. All the diving gear is new MARES quality equipment and well maintained.
After a short boat trip you will arrive at one of the many great diving sites Aitutaki has to offer, and once in the water you can expect to see huge schools of spotted eagles rays, massive green turtles, napoleon wrasses, and moray eels. You will also see the common tropical reef fish and you will often encounter oceanic species like tunas, trevally & barracuda.
There are some beautiful drop-offs, walls and coral gardens and fish feeding spots where you can let the fish eat coconut out of your hand, and some great ‘swim throughs’ and caves. If you are traveling from May through to October with a little bit of luck you may get to see the humpback whales. Onu’s boat is 6.5 metres long and takes out small groups only. A typical 2-tank diving day takes around 4 - 5 hours and during the surface interval you will have some light refreshments, like local fruit, coconut and water. There is a maximum of six for tours and children under 10 are not permitted. |
